Yours, Later
Terms of Service
Last updated 27 June 2026
Yours, Later exists to keep one promise: a sealed letter is delivered exactly once, on the date you chose — even years later. These terms explain how the service works, what we commit to, the limits of that commitment, and the rights you keep.
The short version
- Your letters are yours. You own what you write. We store it only to deliver it back to you.
- We are built to deliver, and we commit to it — but no online service can promise perfection, so this page sets out the honest limits.
- Writing and delivering text letters is free, forever. Premium adds extras and is optional.
- If we ever had to wind the service down, we would tell you, try to deliver pending letters early, and let you export everything first.
Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and "Yours, Later" (the "app", "service", "we", "us") and govern your use of the app and its websites. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Who can use Yours, Later
You must be at least 13 years old (or the equivalent minimum age in your country) to use the service. By using it you confirm you meet this requirement and that the information you give us is accurate.
Your account
You sign in with email, Google, or Apple. You are responsible for keeping access to your account and the email address linked to it. Because your letters are delivered to the email address on your account, keeping that address current and accessible is essential — it is the main way a letter reaches you years later. You can delete your account and all its data at any time from Settings → Delete account, our account deletion page, or by contacting us.
Your letters and content
You keep all ownership of the letters, photos, and audio you create ("your content"). You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the service — to store, process, sync, and deliver your content back to you on the date you choose. We do not sell your content, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
Private letters are end-to-end encrypted on your device with a key only you hold. We cannot read them, and they are never processed by any AI. The app keeps a sealed letter's contents hidden until its delivery date; Private letters go further — encrypted before they leave your device, so no database access, by us or anyone, can recover the plaintext. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.
The delivery commitment — and its limits
Reliable delivery is the heart of this app, and we have engineered it specifically for that: delivery is handled server-side and runs independently of whether the app is installed on your device, with email as the primary channel and push notifications as a bonus. We keep a delivery record for each letter so it is sent exactly once and never twice. We are committed to delivering every sealed letter on its date.
That said, no online service can warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, and you accept that delivery may be delayed or prevented by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including:
- an email address that has become invalid, full, or that you no longer control;
- your email provider classifying our message as spam or blocking it;
- outages or changes at the infrastructure and email providers we rely on;
- deletion of your account or letter (by you or as required by law);
- events beyond our control (force majeure).
Where a delivery cannot be completed, we retry and keep a record of the failure. To give your letters the best chance of arriving years from now, keep a working email address on your account and add our sending address to your contacts.
Free and premium plans
Writing and delivering text letters is free. Premium is an optional subscription or one-time "lifetime" purchase that unlocks extras such as photo and voice notes, premium paper and seals, the AI delivery companion, and milestones. Current pricing is shown in the app before you buy.
Subscriptions and billing
Premium subscriptions are billed through your Apple or Google account and renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. You manage or cancel subscriptions in your device's account settings, not in the app. The "lifetime" purchase is a one-time payment for the premium features available in the app, for as long as the service is operated (see "If the service changes or ends" below).
Refunds
Purchases are processed by Apple or Google, and refunds are handled under their policies; please request refunds through them. This does not affect any refund rights you have under applicable consumer law.
If the service changes or ends
We intend Yours, Later to be here for the long horizons it promises. If we ever had to discontinue the service or a major feature, we would aim to give reasonable advance notice, attempt to deliver pending letters before shutdown where technically feasible, and provide a way to export your letters beforehand. If we discontinue the service entirely, your remaining obligations and ours end, except those that by their nature should survive (such as ownership of your content and the limitation of liability below). Nothing here removes any non-waivable refund or other right you may have under applicable consumer law.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the service to:
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights;
- store or send content that is unlawful, or that you have no right to send;
- attempt to access other users' letters or accounts, or to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or overload the service;
- use the service to send letters to people who have not consented to receive them as a form of unsolicited messaging.
We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms or that put the safety of the service or other users at risk.
AI features
Optional AI features (writing prompts and the delivery-time companion) apply to Standard letters only and are never used on Private (end-to-end encrypted) letters. AI output is generated automatically, may be imperfect, and is provided to help you — not as professional advice.
Disclaimers
Except for the commitments expressly stated in these Terms, the service is provided "as is" and "as available," without other warranties of any kind. This does not exclude or limit any rights or guarantees you have under mandatory consumer-protection law (for example, in the EU, UK, or your country of residence) that cannot legally be excluded.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim (and, for the free service, is limited to providing the service on a reasonable-efforts basis). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your non-waivable statutory consumer rights.
Apple and Google
If you obtained the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, their respective terms also apply, and the store provider is not responsible for the app or its support. Where you downloaded from the Apple App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
Wherever you use the service, the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence apply to you, and nothing in these Terms deprives you of the protection of those rules. Disputes should first be raised with us directly — most are resolved quickly by email.
